The document Before Sowing describes a very special meeting between the Autonomous University of Chapingo and the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala. Professors, students, and communities gathered to reflect together on traditional knowledge, such as ethnoagriculture, and its importance today. Although they came from different backgrounds, they shared the same concern: how to recognize and value the knowledge that comes from the countryside, from indigenous peoples, and from everyday experience.

One of the most moving moments was the visit by Portuguese thinker Boaventura de Sousa Santos, who spoke about the Epistemology of the South, a way of understanding the world that values non-academic knowledge. He proposed breaking with the traditional way of doing science and listening to each other as equals. His message was clear: the knowledge of corn, clay, and the milpa is also science and helps us imagine a more just future connected to the earth.

If you're interested in the dialogue between science and ancestral knowledge, or if you simply believe that a different kind of education is possible, we encourage you to read this book. It's inspiring, moving, and opens the door to a different way of being in the world. 🌾📚
